The lawsuit alleged that on August 23, the Sparks City Council's denial (by a vote of 3 to 2) of a resort complex, including a casino, along Pyramid Highway violated a 1994 Development Agreement.

May 22, 2006 SPARKS FISCAL YEAR 2006 – 2007 BUDGET CLEAR CITY COUNCIL The Sparks City Council unanimously approved $201 million for the Fiscal Year 2006-2007 budget. This represents a 17 percent increase from last year. City revenues are expected to increase 15 percent in the next fiscal year. The new budget does not include any tax increases.

April 17, 2006 2006 COLLEGE NATIONALS TRIATHLON HELD IN SPARKS - Event will significantly impact Roads and Traffic in Sparks this Saturday This Saturday, April 22, the City of Sparks and the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority are hosting the 2006 National Triathlon, a nationally televised sporting event. The triathlon consists of a one mile swim at the Sparks Marina, a 40 Kilometer (K) bike course, and a 10 Kilometer (K) run. The triathlon has been capped at 650 athletes.

February 28, 2006 CITY OF SPARKS ENDS STATE OF EMERGENCY The City of Sparks has lifted the State of Emergency which was declared yesterday in anticipation of flooding from the Truckee River in the Sparks Industrial Area. According to forecasts, the Truckee River has peaked at the Vista Gauge in Sparks below flood levels.
