REGISTRATION OPEN FOR NEW YOUTH SUMMER VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE IN SPARKS
Sparks, NV - Children are going to dig a new recreational youth volleyball league available through the City of Sparks Parks and Recreation Department. The summer program, Dig It!, is designed to be fun for everyone. A prior knowledge of volleyball is not required since the first four practices will be a group clinic where new players will learn volleyball basics, such as serving, passing, setting, spiking, rotation and rules of the game. The program will take place at the Alf Sorensen Community Center, 1400 Baring Blvd., from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, starting June 21 through August 4. An end-of-the-season tournament will be held Saturday, August 6.
The program is open for children going into grades 3-8 for Fall 2010. Levels will be split into three groups: third- and fourth-graders, fifth- and sixth-graders, and seventh- and eighth-graders. Cost: $120, or $100 for Sparks residents. The fee includes a uniform top, volleyball, pictures, and tournament. Financial assistance is available for children who cannot otherwise afford to take part in the program.
Register through June 10 at the Larry D. Johnson Community Center, 1200 12th St. For more information, call 353-2376 or log on to www.sparksrec.com.
