Crystal Darkness Parents Toolkit Launch

Secret Witness to host special viewing of sequel

Reno, NV - Secret Witness is hosting a preview showing of the much anticipated sequel to its Emmy and Telly Award Winning Crystal Darkness Documentary. The new hour long film, titled "Parents Toolkit: How To Protect Your Children From Crystal Meth," is the first major salvo in a new two year long plan to fight substance abuse in our community.

The special showing is at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 21st at the Washoe County Commission Chambers, located at 1001 East 9th Street. The event is open to the public.

This program will launch the second phase of the Crystal Darkness Campaign here in Northern Nevada. In a couple of weeks 35,000 copies of the Parents Toolkit will be distributed in the hands of every parent and youth leader of teenagers in our community.

Since Crystal Darkness first aired in Reno on January 9th, 2007, the program has proliferated throughout the nation and beyond and to date more than 30 million people have been impacted by this campaign. After hundreds of hours of interviews with some of the best recovery, prevention and law enforcement experts throughout the nation, the Parents Toolkit will provide a "greatest hits" of advice in the area of substance abuse for parents and youth leaders in our community.

This is just the first in a series of upcoming launches. Thanks to a $250,000 federal grant and through the generosity of private donors, Secret Witness will also be sharing with you its massive plans for a two-year assault on drug abuse in our community.

Several leaders of the community will be on hand as well for the event scheduled to be televised live on the Washoe County Government channel including Washoe County Commissioner Chair David Humke, Sparks Mayor Geno Martini, Carson Mayor Bob Crowell, Washoe County Sheriff Mike Haley and others.

Secret Witness, a non-profit crime fighting organizing headquartered in Northern Nevada. It is launching this new program in partnership with Join Together Northern Nevada, Washoe County School District, Bristlecone, Quest Counseling & Consulting, Scolari's Food & Drug and area Rotary Clubs.
